The Year of Writing Dangerously

In 2009, I wrote my first book. In 2010, I tried to get it published.

2011 is a new year!

This year, I am not going to focus on publication or even writing for publication. This year, I am going to focus on writing for pure enjoyment. Strangely enough, I enjoyed writing while I was doing it, but once I finished and turned my eyes to publication, all the joy was stripped away.

I read for the love of it, why wouldn't I write for the same reason?

So, here's to new adventures, to silly stories that no one will want to read but me, and to sad tales that bring catharsis but no check. 2011 will be the year that Cyndi got her groove back!

  3. I'm totally with you. If I can make a living, great. If not, great. I'm not going to quit writing.

  4. I'm in a similar place, where I am no longer trying to seek an agent for my first book. I want to concentrate on writing an even better second one.

  5. Hi from TMafi's blog hop. I did the same thing thing: shelved it, stopped querying, kept writing. I wrote another novel and just got an agent.

  6. @Jolene You're right on; don't quit. Just keep on doing what you do 'cuz you wanna. Not 'cuz you gotta. And all ends well. :)

  7. I think you are working with a great idea! Cheers to 2011!!! I started writing last year and knew that this year would be the year of editing. To my surprise it might actually be the year I get published... why? Because I started writing for fun and people on the blog noticed!!

I found your blog thanks to the link you provided on Grab a Pen! It's great meeting other writers!!! Especially those titled - Love Stories!!

  8. @Jen Daiker- Welcome to the blog and congrats on your writing. That's awesome.

BTW, I checked out your blog (fun!) and also hopped over to Sondrae Bennett's blog because of the interview you posted. Her book sounds great, too. What a fabulous community!

  9. I think it's so important to write for fun and with passion. Sounds like you have a ton of passion! As a reader, we can tell and if you write what you love, someone else will probably love it to!
